What is the tipping bucket rain gauge?

Tipping bucket rain gauge is a hydrological and meteorological instrument to measure the natural rainfall, and at the same time convert the rainfall into a digital information output expressed in the form of a switch to meet the need for information transmission, processing, recording and display of rainfall measurement equipment. 

The tipping bucket rain gauge is a telemetric rainfall instrument composed of a sensor and a signal recorder, the sensor is composed of a water bearer, an upper tipping bucket, a metering tipping bucket, a counting tipping bucket, a reed switch and so on.

Its working principle is: rainwater from the top of the water bearer into the water bearer, falling into the water funnel, through the funnel mouth into the tipping bucket, when the amount of water reaches a certain height (for example, 0.2 millimeters), the tipping bucket loses its balance when tipping.
