What is PM10 sensor?

Time:2024-07-28 16:04:09 Popularity:82

I. Definition of PM10

PM10 is particulate matter in ambient air with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of less than or equal to 10 micrometres, also known as respirable particulate matter (RPM) or fly ash. These particles usually come from the crushing and milling processes of materials as well as dust, pollen, droplets, industrial emissions, traffic exhaust, etc., which are lifted up by the wind. Due to the small diameter of PM10 particles, they can be inhaled into the human respiratory tract and cause harm to human health, such as causing respiratory diseases and cardiovascular problems.

Both PM10 and PM2.5 are two major pollution indicators that indicate ambient air quality, and higher levels (µg/m3) indicate more serious air pollution. These particles contain harmful substances and float in the atmosphere for a long time, which has a great impact on human health and atmospheric visibility.

Second, the definition of PM10 sensor

PM10 sensor is a device used for real-time monitoring of the concentration of PM10 particles in the air. It is based on specific physical principles (e.g. laser scattering principle or optical principle), and is able to measure and display the concentration of PM10 particles in the air in real time. This sensor is widely used in outdoor weather stations, dust monitoring, libraries, archives, industrial plants and other places where PM10 concentration monitoring is required.

Measurement range:

PM2.5: 0-1000μg/m3

PM10: 0-2000μg/m3

Relative error: PM2.5, PM10: ±15% and ±10μg/m3 maximum error (25°C, 50% RH)
Minimum detectable particles : 0.3μm diameter.
Power supply: DC 12V-24V
Output : RS485
Instrument cable length: 2.5m
Operating ambient temperature: -20℃~+60℃
Ambient humidity:0~99%RH
Product power consumption: 350 mW

Third, the working principle of PM10 sensor

The working principle of PM10 sensor is mainly based on laser scattering principle or optical principle.

1. The following is the working process of PM10 sensor based on laser scattering principle:

1.1 Laser emission: there is a laser inside the sensor, which emits a laser beam.

1.2 Particle Scattering: when airborne particles (including PM10) pass through the sensor, they scatter the light from the laser beam.

1.3 Optical Signal Receiving and Conversion: The optical sensor inside the sensor receives the light scattered by the particles and converts it into an electrical signal.

1.4 Signal Processing and Display: After processing the electrical signal by the internal circuit, the sensor is able to calculate the concentration of the particulate matter and display or transmit the data in real time through the display or output interface.

2. Light scattering method: there is a light source and a light detector inside the sensor. When the air passes through the sensor, the light from the light source encounters PM10 particles in the air, which scatter the light. The light detector detects changes in the scattered light, and from these changes the concentration of the particulate matter can be calculated.

3. β-ray absorption method: This method uses a β-ray source to irradiate an air sample. PM10 particulate matter absorbs some of the rays, and the concentration of the particulate matter is determined by measuring the changes in the intensity of the rays.

Summary

PM10 is particulate matter in ambient air with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of less than or equal to 10 micrometres, which has a significant impact on human health and atmospheric visibility.PM10 sensors are devices used for real-time monitoring of the concentration of PM10 particulate matter in the air, and their working principle is mainly based on the principle of laser scattering or the principle of optics. By measuring and displaying the concentration of PM10 particles in the air, PM10 sensors play an important role in the fields of environmental monitoring, public health, industrial emission control, etc., helping to maintain air quality and protect human health, providing important technical support.
