2. Rotating vane anemometers: These consist of a vane that rotates to indicate the direction of the wind. The rotation is usually driven by a gear to a digital scale or pointer on a dial.
Devices for measuring wind speed and direction mainly include anemometers and wind vanes, which can be used individually or combined to form composite instruments such as wind poles.
