Total solar radiation is the sum of direct and scattered solar radiation received from the Sun at the level of an observation point on the Earth's surface. Total solar radiation consists of the intensity of direct solar radiation and solar scattered radiation.
Solar direct radiation: after the weakening of atmospheric scattering and absorption, along the direction of projection directly to the surface of the solar radiation.
Solar scattered radiation: solar radiation through the atmosphere, by the atmosphere of gas, dust, aerosols, etc., scattering effect, from all angles of the sky to reach the surface of part of the solar radiation.
So how do we monitor and utilise the total solar radiation in industry and production by means of total solar radiation sensors.
Total solar radiation sensor (Pyranometer) is an important ground meteorological observation instruments, but also solar energy resources census and photovoltaic power plant operation monitoring field indispensable equipment. The common types of solar radiation sensors are thermoelectric and photoelectric.
In order to meet the needs of customers, NiuBoL has designed two products with different principles for total solar radiation, thermoelectric pyranometer and photoelectric pyranometer, so that customers can better choose the sensor for monitoring total solar radiation according to their needs.
I. Thermoelectric Pyranometer
NiuBoL thermoelectric pyranometer (Model: NBL-W-SRS) adopts the thermoelectric principle, which can be used to measure solar radiation in the spectral range of 0.3~3μm. The sensing element is a wire-wound electroplated thermopile with a highly absorptive black coating on the sensing surface.
Using the thermal effect of radiation, solar radiation is absorbed and converted into a temperature difference electric potential. And has a temperature compensation function, can be more accurate measurement of solar radiation. Sensing surface above the double glass cover, not only can weaken the air convection on the equipment, but also can block the radiation of the outer cover itself. In addition, a radiation shield can be added to measure scattered radiation.
The product adopts the standard Modbus-RTU 485 communication protocol, analogue two signal output methods, can directly read the current total solar radiation value, wiring is simple. It has a beautiful appearance and occupies less installation space.
