How serial server works

The serial port server provides the serial port to network function, which can convert the RS-232/485/422 serial port into a TCP/IP network interface, and realize two-way transparent data transmission between the RS-232/485/422 serial port and the TCP/IP network interface. The serial device can immediately have the function of TCP/IP network interface, connect the network for data communication, and greatly expand the communication distance of the serial device.

How serial server works

1. TCP/UDP communication mode: In this mode, the serial server is used in pairs, one as the server side and the other as the client side, and the connection is established between the two through the IP address and port number to achieve two-way transparent data transmission. This mode is suitable for transforming the bus connection between two serial devices into a TCP/IP network connection.

2. Use virtual serial port communication mode: In this mode, one or more converters establish a connection with a computer to support bidirectional transparent transmission of data. The following converters are managed by the virtual serial port software on the computer, and one virtual serial port can correspond to multiple converters, and N virtual serial ports correspond to M converters (N<=M ). This mode is suitable for serial devices connected by 485 bus or 232 devices controlled by computer.

3. Based on the network communication mode: In this mode, the application program on the computer has written the communication program based on the SOCKET protocol, and you can directly choose to support the SOCKET protocol in the converter settings.
