Soil temperature and moisture sensor is a kind of sensor designed for agricultural service, which can measure the temperature and moisture of soil at the same time, and is a key component of smart agriculture. Soil temperature and moisture sensors consist of two main parts: soil temperature sensor and soil moisture sensor.

- Soil Temperature Sensor: Its working principle is similar to that of ordinary temperature sensors, and it is designed with thermistor principle, but compared with conventional temperature sensors, soil temperature sensors have higher durability to adapt to the special requirements of the soil environment.

- Soil humidity sensor: there are more types of these sensors, according to the measurement principle, mainly divided into capacitive, resistive, ion-sensitive type.

Soil temperature and moisture sensor has a compact size, high measurement accuracy, fast response speed, good interchangeability, good sealing, waterproof grade and so on, applicable to a variety of soil environments, and not subject to corrosion. The output signal of the sensor can be voltage signal, current loop (4-20mA) or RS485 (standard Modbus-RTU protocol), with a wide range of supply voltage, short stabilization time and fast response time.
